Project results presented live in Schwarzenberg

On 17 September 2026, the project team presented the results of SAMIRA2.0 at the railway museum of the Sächsische Eisenbahnfreunde e.V. in Schwarzenberg (Ore Mountains) and demonstrated the system live. Many thanks to everyone who attended for their visit and the lively exchange.

  3. Workshop

    First stakeholder workshop well received

The first stakeholder workshop for the SAMIRA2.0 project was held as an online event on May 23, 2025. The project as a whole and its current development status were presented to interested specialist participants. The presentation from the event is available for download below.

After an overview of the entire project progress, the individual components were explained, such as the portable SAMIRA mobil multi-sensor module and the SAMIRAhmi display unit for train drivers. Next, the environment and collision detection, position and attitude determination, and the mode of operation and interaction of the individual sensors were explained. These sensors include the laser scanner, RADAR sensor, and satellite navigation unit. Another technical focus was on data transmission via the 5G mobile network.

This was followed by questions about technical details, as well as an open discussion about the various applications of the overall SAMIRA system. The current concept is particularly strong when it comes to moving longer shunting units, e.g. on port railroads or for material transport on industrial railroads. However, the current method is less suitable for shunting applications involving frequent wagon movement or train formations.

Overall, the specialist audience received the SAMIRA concept very well, and the exchange with experts in the field will definitely continue.
